Catherine Designs is closing ... Retirement sale : 50% off all my store ...

Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I have taken the decision to retire.

I have kept postponing the decision because it was so difficult for me to do. I really love designing and what an adventure it has been. I have loved every minute of it.

I just remember as if it was yesterday when Amy told us about the opening of her new store :

After 5 Designs

and encouraged some of us to join her in this adventure.  

I owe Amy a big thank you to have encouraged me to be part of it but

I also owe my CT team and my customers a big thank you for their support and

the two years of fun and friendship.

I have accepted a few months ago a short term full time job which is turning now into a full time permanent job. In this period of economic turmoil , it is a chance for me. Unfortunately I am no superwoman and just can't juggle designing with a full time job. Being a designer for me is a full time job as I like to take the time to think carefully about each paper and elements I create. I am a perfectionist, I am slow and designing 2 or 3 hours at night is just not for me.

I am sad as designing was really important to me but who knows ... I might be back one day ...

I will miss designing but most of all I will miss all of you.

Photo Workshop in Paris / May 15th & 16th / First session

Hi Everyone,

So long no see ....I am now working full time and it has been hard for me to keep this blog going and to keep designing. I have started working on a new kit but I find it hard designing on short periods of time. I guess I am the type of designers who can' t design when she has only one or two hours in front of her.

May has been a busy months too but I have been extremely lucky to do two photo workshops during two week-ends, one with the Hoppy Kindanda and Caroline Shimanek : HK Butterfly workshop (photos to come later) and another one with some French designers and photographers. The occasion to meet Sandrine aka Bisontine with whom I have designed many collabs and other designers I have met over internet.

Thanks to Amelie, the owner of Digital Crea who masterfully organized everything ! It was instructive, fun and most of all an intense moment. I feel very lucky to have known all these girls, all so friendly and willing to share.

 TUTORIAL

I just would like to show you an easy way to put your elements on the grass in a natural way ( the grass or flowers are covering part of the element)

Tutorial

1. Open a new document

2. Place the grass (catherinedesigns_Little Garden_Grass2) and

place the basket ( catherinedesigns_Aprilshot_Basket_sh2) in your document.

3. Select your layer named catherinedesigns_Little Garden_Grass2

4. Select your lasso tool with feather = 20 px

5. Draw around your basket a selection that slightly covers the basket.

Your selection is highlighted with a marching ants type pattern.

6. With your layer named catherinedesigns_Little Garden_Grass2 selected,

rightclick on your mouse and select layer via copy

7. Move the copied layer to the top of your layers

That's it our basket is naturally sitting on the grass!
